• Wipe up spills immediately, especially from acidic substances like wine, coffee, fruit juice, lemon or vinegar, as these can etch or stain the surface if left.
• Always use coasters under glasses and cups, and place mats or trivets underneath hot dishes, plates and decorative objects to protect against heat marks and scratches.

As a general guide, your coffee table should be roughly two-thirds the length of your sofa. This creates a sense of harmony without overwhelming the seating area.

For a small sofa or loveseat (around 120–150 cm), a coffee table between 70–90 cm works well.

For a standard three-seater sofa (around 180–210 cm), aim for a table around 110–140 cm long.

For a large or modular sofa (over 210 cm), consider a longer rectangular table, or pair two smaller tables to cover the span without blocking walkways.

The width (depth) of your coffee table should allow comfortable reach from the sofa without impeding traffic flow. Most designs sit between 50–75 cm deep, which is ample for drinks, books and decorative pieces while keeping pathways clear.
