Yes, sideboards are wonderfully versatile and work beautifully both as TV stands in living areas and as storage pieces in dining rooms. Their generous tops provide a stable surface for a television, media kit and decorative pieces, while the cupboards and drawers inside keep everything from cables to tableware neatly out of sight.

In a dining room, a sideboard is perfect for storing crockery, linens and serving pieces, and doubles as a buffet surface when you’re entertaining. Just be sure to check the width, depth and height against your TV and the room, so the screen sits securely and at a comfortable viewing height.

Some of our sideboards include thoughtful details such as rear cut-outs or open backs to help route cables for TVs, soundbars and other devices. Where these features are present, they’re usually noted in the product description.

If a particular design doesn’t have built-in cable management, it’s still easy to keep wires tidy using simple cable ties, sleeves or boxes inside the cupboards. Many people simply run cables through the back of a cupboard and keep devices on a shelf, so the front remains clean and uncluttered.

Day-to-day care is straightforward: dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and wipe spills promptly. For a deeper clean, use a barely damp cloth with a little mild soap, then dry immediately with a separate soft cloth.

Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners and rough cloths, which can dull or damage the finish. For wood, stone, marble or metal surfaces, coasters, placemats and felt pads under lamps and ornaments help protect against scratches, heat marks and water rings.
